sausage and gravy with biscuits

  1. preheat the oven and bake the biscuits according to the package instructions.
  2. in a deep pot over medium heat, cook the sausage thoroughly until no longer pink. if there is excessive fat in the pan, drain into a container, allow to cool and discard.
  3. add the butter to the pot and allow it to melt. stir in flour, salt, and pepper.
  4. gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. be patient! high heat or failure to mix will cause the milk to burn to the bottom of the pan.
  5. bring the mixture to a boil and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  6. serve the creamy sausage gravy over the baked biscuits.
  7. serves 8.
